Mollymawk albatross
An impressive mollymawk albatross soars the sky of Algo Bay, in the Eastern Cape on the look-out for its next meal. Mollymawks are a group of medium-sized albatross, that have the largest range in size of all the Albatross genera, as their wingspans are 180-256 cm. They have been described to have gull-like plumage, with dark black backs, mantle and tails, with lighter heads, underwings and bellies. It is difficult to decipher this individual between a shy albatross (Thalassarche cauta) and a black-browed albatross (Thalassarche melanophris). An Albatross can spend days at sea before it touches down on land again and are often seen as good omen for fisherman.
